This is a Player's Handbook for Warlord this a great Book for geting into warlord Saga of the Storm a great card game .
"Master Codex" contains only Nuts & Bolts September 19, 2006 J. Metcalf Overall I am not overly impressed with this book. It is a solid "players guide" for the Warlord setting, containing not-quite-typical races combined with predictable classes. As far as having all the nuts and bolts for running a Warlord setting game, it is all there. What is lacking is any story, background, or other information to get a campaign off the ground. While those familiar to the Warlord setting, such as those who have played the Warlord CCG since its beginning, may not see this as a negative, those unfamiliar or new to the setting will find this frustrating. For a core book, a "Master Codex", I would expect at least an overview and history of the lands. The prestige classes could have waited for a later book. In order for a game master to run this game in the Warlord setting, he will need to buy the Atlas and Monster books (retaining around $40 each) as well as this $50 tome. At a much lower price tag, the generic D&D core books are a much better buy. If one needs to do the homework to run a game in this setting anyway, why buy the overpriced books? Overall a solid player's book full of nuts & bolts for the game, but lacking in overall detail for running a game. It should have been called a Player's Guide rather than a Master Codex. My recommendation is to use the D&D 3.5 core books and pick up the Atlas for a campaign setting (assuming the Atlas has the sufficient background information and histroy to be used as such).

Great book - covers the world of the Warlord CCG game in excruiating detail! Everything you could want is in here. Gave it four out of five because I hink they could have split it into more volumes in order to get into even more detail. I look forward to picking up the other books in the series! A++
