| Customer Reviews: STOP GOUGING!!!! June 13, 2010 H.M.Gimlord (USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is nothing short of gouging. The original price was 9.99. I don't care how out of stock this is. I can't afford to spend $35-$40 on a few sheets of cardboard, but I would love to play the game with them. Do you realize how many sales you could have if you sold this at a reasonable (less inflated price)!? Not worth more than $15. Final offer!
Also a note to Amazon: All of your sellers for Dungeon Tiles (In general; not just this one) are gouging. And it is appearing that you are explicitly encouraging this by not seeking out competitive vendors. I have found many sites offering dungeon tiles for less than half your sellers' prices elsewhere and will not buy from Amazon when they allow this practice to occur. Please search out competitive sellers.
name IS appropriate October 2, 2009 sim2er (ME, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
this product is on par with the other sets, which i also own and love. its true that some of the tiles seem a little misplaced, but would make sense in a planar city. one thing people complain about is the name, but i find it appropriate. (underground) sewers are always in shadow, and can form "streets" for underground illegal activities, and so on. thus the name is a metaphor for sewers, much like the "underground railroad" was a metaphor for slaves traveling quickly to the north [railroad was the fastest overland travel at the time, but they didn't actually ride a railroad, nor did they travel underground]. the name could nave been a little clearer perhaps, but i just wanted to point out the (intelligent) subtleties of the name.
its not just streets, pay attention to the OF SHADOW part.
No longer worth it. July 21, 2009 C Lafferty (Roswell, GA USA) 18 out of 20 found this review helpful
For the original price of $9.99, this was a good product. Due to Wizards of the Coast's inexplicable decision to make these tile sets in limited batches (but yet continue to reference them in their current published works), these sets are the subject of greedy retailers jacking up the price beyond any reasonable amount.
Don't buy for these outrageous prices. One could just reproduce these tiles one self (or similar tiles) with a small amount of craft work.
Unless these are reprinted or brought down to reasonable prices, it's a huge ripoff.
Beware of the sewers, I mean streets, of shadow. May 8, 2009 JVenkman (Moore, OK) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Good solid tiles like the other sets but really seems to be lacking the streets the set name mentions. The streets almost seem like a transition into the sewers which is the only example dungeon given with the packaging. However, there are plenty of nice horse-drawn carts, some vendor stands, a town square fountain and three or four rooftops and two crowd tiles. These tiles are worth the money but to really be useful for more than just one dead end alley you would need to buy multiple sets. Would really like to see some interior tavern and inn tiles with a dedicated urban setting. This should have been broken down into two separates releases, one being city and the other sewer.
more streets please March 4, 2009 Albert H. Nakano (Seattle, WA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Another solid set of tiles from WotC. However, be aware that on the flip side of street tiles are actually sewer tiles, not street tiles. Also, several are rooftop of buildings. Cool if you are running a battle on the rooftop. So overall, I think we need more street variations, including some "narrow" alleys.
