Unfortunately Blizzard is no longer about games.
Too many years of running WOW (aka a money-printing machine) has ruined the company.
Or maybe it was all the changes to their corporate structure.
Whatever the cause, making you sign onto the internet over and over to verify your copy, no LAN game, Uber Region-Locking and charging $60 for what is effectively 1/3 of the complete game is unacceptable.
It means Blizzard has finally become a company - not about the games or the fans or even the casual customers, they are purely about squeezing every last cent out of every fan-boy they can dupe into buying their products.

Please don't take my word for it.
Research this game.
Make sure you understand completely the limitations that Blizzard tries to hide.

Buying this abomination will only encourage them to produce more.
Help them see the error in their ways.
Boycott this game.

I'v seen so many people writing bad reviews for this game, that I really don't think have even played it yet. They just go off what they read or hear.

So here we go, during the install process, you watch a narrative slideshow on what happened in SC1 and broodwar. Which I thought was pretty cool as it's been a long time since iv beat SC1. Game loads up you create your online persona, which is used in single player to save achievements too. Upon reading up about just 1 side of the campaign I wasn't overly thrilled nor did I go into this with high expectations. That being said 1 race is plenty, it took about 34 hours to beat the campaign, and there's several different missions I need to go back and play through the counterpart choice. There's different paths you can take to unlock different units, technologies, or allies.

There's great character development, it doesnt force you to it, but once your i think it was like the 3rd mission you have a command center and you can delve deeper and talk to people if you want. The single player campaign i would give 5 stars, great voice acting, awesome story, doesnt have a cliffhanger ending, yet I look forward to the next campaign.

I read somewhere about someone complaining about lack of units, and the next campaigns won't be as interesting, like i stated above the units, technologies are different, quite a bit different in single player than there online counterparts. ex; first time playing online I thought where is my flame turret!

Online could use some work, all I play are custom maps, and i like how they fill quickly if you join them, or you can host thru bnet, without worrying about portforwarding or any firewall issues. While there working on the layout and lobby to include chat and channel features, that will be nice. Now I do hate the autostart and 30 second countdown on games joined, which is why this has 4 stars and not 5. But that's easily remedied if you create your own game.

1 out of 5 stars Really Blizzard?   September 3, 2010

I'm extremely surprised that a company as beloved as Blizzard would throw so many restrictions at their long standing customer base. There are limits to how much abuse people will put up with before that taste that they leave in their mouth becomes to sour to accept.
I'm not going to write about all the flaws as there are plenty of reviews that shine light on them. One in particular that affects myself and up to another 400,000 people in the U.S. Army is that Blizzard in their infinite wisdom decided that they should tether this game to the internet. So now when I'm deployed I won't be able to play a game that I bought legally. Guess I'll have to look for some illegal means of playing it and next time i won't waste money trying to pay for nothing.
WAY TO TURN PEOPLE TOWARDS PIRATING BLIZZARD!

5 out of 5 stars A well made sequel to the first.   September 3, 2010

I am a fan of the first starcraft, this made me want to buy the second when it came out. The new one is much better than the first, cinematic scenes throughout campaign are much more common than in the first. Also, with the new [...] system, I get matched up against challenging opponents that aren't necessarily more skilled than I am, meaning every match is for the most part is fair. A major problem with the original starcraft is I would log on, and within seconds be told "Oh I got the noob on my team" and my teammate would immediately bail. Because I am not forced to play with people at different skill levels the game is considerably less one sided than in the original.

Campaign can be adjusted based on skill level. In the first one I had difficulty with it, I felt it was less newcomer friendly. The new campaign difficult levels are accurate.

I love the game, better graphics, more units, campaign is so fun I actually want to play it a second time.

Blizzard did an excellent job once upon a time ago on Starcraft. I didn't think that they could top it, but they did. The UI is streamlined, annoy things like getting SCV's and other units getting stuck behind piles of supply depots has been solved, and you can queue up buildings and automatically have it return back to mining. Siege tanks can also now be told to move to a location first and deploy via the improved ui. The single player campaign is well over 50 hours. Excellent value.
